A second season was played in 2022 to realign the competition's calendar to play AFLW in Spring. Daisy Pearce continued as captain, while Kate Hore was elevated to vice-captain.

Melbourne only lost one home and away game, failing to capture the minor premiership by the narrowest possible margin. They would have passed Brisbane by scoring one more point in the Round 10 game against West Coast but ran out of time and missed top spot by 0.2%.

Melbourne qualified for another Grand Final, beating Brisbane Lions in the first game played at Springfield to capture their maiden women's premiership.

At the end of the season a special signing period allowed recent expansion sides to recruit contracted players. No Melbourne player left the club during this time.
