Half-forward/midfielder, who arrived at Melbourne after playing every game for Carlton during 2018. Played every game for the season and was one of her side's best performers.

Ever-present again in her second and third years with the club. Battled injury trouble early in 2022, but recovered to play finals. Further injuries restricted her to nine games in the 2022 spring season, but Gay returned to play in all three of Melbourne's finals, including a breakthrough premiership. Battled injury in 2023, missing the last two rounds with a hamstring injury before returning to the Demons' disappointing finals campaign.

At the end of 2023, Gay requested a trade to Essendon and joined the Bombers as part of a 11 club deal on the final day of the trade period. The trade also saw Melbourne gain Lily Johnson from Port Adelaide, and National Draft selections #12, 23 and 40, losing Charlotte Wilson, picks 19, 26 and 56.
