The match was originally scheduled for Norwood Oval, but was moved due to a poor surface caused by heavy rain. Ironically, this left the game played on a hard surface that caused the ball to bounce unpredictabily. That worked in Melbourne's favour when a centring Kate Hore kicked to the top of the square changed directions and ran through for a goal. It was Melbourne's only first goal of the quarter, but a strong defensive effort ensured the Crows only got one of their own. Likewise, Melbourne only had one goal in the second term, from a late Tayla Harris intercept, but kept the Crows to a single point.

The game broke open in the third term, with ex-Demon Ashleigh Woodland kicking her second and third goals to put the home side in front. The Demons returned fire to be 11 points in front at the last change, withstanding the margin dropping to less than a goal during the final term to recover and win comfortably.

Best were West, Paxman and Purcell.
