Key forward picked with Melbourne's first selection in the 2020 AFLW National Draft. She debuted in the opening round of the new season and played every game. In her second season, Bannan used her athletic skills to play a wing role. She played every game in 2022, kicking an average of a goal a game, winning a Rising Star nomination, and playing in the Grand Final side.
Bannan played every game in the 2022 spring season, appearing in Melbourne's winning Grand Final. Again played every game in 2023, and kicked a club record equalling five goals in Round 7, but only one more goal for the rest of the year. At the end of the season Bannan signed a contract extension to 2027.
