Defending their first premiership since 1900, the Redlegs were top of the ladder midway through the year, but fell away due to injury and illness. Only five players appeared in all 18 matches, and despite a superior percentage to fourth placed Carlton, they finished a full game behind them.
The committee consisted of H. Parker, JG Smith, GG Coulter, A. Sowden, JA Henty-Wilson, CH Lilley, GH Watson, C Taylor (football club appointee). Defeated election candidates were DC Bell, AC Bruce, CE Couchman, SER Church, F. Ince and L. Nichols.
The club had receipts for the season of 2960/6/10 and expenses of 3530/16/7. Players were given a bonus of 15/ each at the end of the year. The dividend paid to clubs by the VFL was reduced from 434p to 298p due to reduced crowds caused by inclement weather and the lack of a Grand Final.
