High-flying forward 2009 Tasmanian Under 18 national representative who was playing country footy until breaking into the state competition where he bolted up the draft pecking order in the second half of 2010.

Debuting midway through 2011 Howe showed promise as a tall, mobile marking forward with 18 goals in his first 13 games. He kicked at least one in 11 of the matches and was named Best First Year Player for his efforts.

Moving away from being a full-time forward in 2012 Howe found himself playing more in the midfield, but it didn't curb his high flying style and he won six weekly nominations for Mark of the Year, eventually winning the overall award for his big leap against Sydney in Round 9. He was one of only three Demons to play every match for the year.

In Round 17 he was reported for smearing blood on the shorts of his opponent during Melbourne's loss to Port Adelaide. He escaped with a reprimand after pleading guilty.

Howe had a career best season in 2013, despite the Demons only winning two games. He kicked his most goals and won a further two nominations for Mark of the Year but also showed versatility as he was occasionally used as a spare man in defence.

In 2014 he made the move to defence permanently, playing every game for the first time, but saw his attacking output drop off accordingly. The next year he bounced between attack and defence, but settled more into the backline.

During the season there was much speculation about his contract status and whether he would remain at the club in 2016, he eventually opted to move to Collingwood as part of the trade that landed the Demons Ben Kennedy. In 2023 he played in a premiership with the Pies.
