The night was held as a tribute match to Jim Stynes who had passed away before the beginning of the season. The players wore a commemorative jumper for the occasion. They took on the also winless Bulldogs, under future Demon assistant Brendan McCartney, and were within range all day but couldn't seriously challenge.
Despite poor delivery into the forward line, Mitch Clark looked his side's most likely forward against an undersized backline. He suffered a wrist injury in the second quarter, and was knocked out in the third after landing on his head in a marking contest.
Best were Bate, Jones and Rivers. Luke Tapscott replaced Mitch Clark at the start of the fourth quarter.
Mark Neeld said "We just have to keep doing what we are doing. The last thing to come is the scoreboard. You have to get everything under control before you can compete there". He said wins and losses were a short term view, and defended delaying a one game suspension to Colin Sylvia until he had recovered from injury.
