The Demons ended their season with a seventh win of the year in front of the smallest crowd ever seen at Docklands.
Early attacks were fruitless before GWS kicked the first two goals of the game, Melbourne bounced back to hit the lead before the sides ended the first quarter level. The Demons were just two points in front at half time and it took until late in the third quarter for them to kick away with multiple goals in a row.
Best were Vince, Viney and Jones. Daniel Cross suffered concussion in the last quarter.
Alex Neal-Bullen replaced Mitch White during the final quarter.
