An All-Australian high school player in 1991, alongside future teammate Peter Vardy, was taken with Melbourne's first pick in the 1993 National Draft. He missed most of 1994 after suffering a broken ankle, and didn't debut until the last round of 1995. In a game the Demons needed to win to make finals, he failed to register a possession as the season finished. His next chance didn't come until Round 9, 1996.
After just eight matches in a struggling side, Ormond-Allen was traded to Adelaide for ((1996 Draft|1996 National Draft) selection #72. He immediately found a spot in Adelaide's 1997 side, before he was outed by a broken jaw suffered at the hands of Carlton's Luke O'Sullivan. He made it back to the side but missed the Crows' winning Grand Final with glandular fever. In 1998 Ormond-Allen played 15 games, but fell out of favour by the finals and missed Adelaide's second premiership. He failed to play a game in 2000 and was delisted at the end of the year. He then returned to Port Adelaide in the SANFL, and played for South Adelaide in 2002. In 2008 he played for Olympic Dam.
Diagnosed with skin cancer in 2008, Ormond-Allen did a 420km charity run to raise money to fight the disease during June 2009.
