After their three game winning streak ended the previous week, Melbourne was not expected to challenge the reigning premiers on their home ground. After the first quarter they trailed by 17 points, and were still 14 behind at half time. A shock comeback won the game, hitting the lead midway through the last quarter and holding on to improve their record for the season to 4-6.
Best were Melksham, Gawn and Pickett. Bayley Fritsch replaced Harry Sharp during the third quarter.
Clayton Oliver was fined $1000 for careless umpire contact.
