Drafted by the Brisbane Lions with selection #2 in the 2015 National Draft, Schache left Brisbane after two seasons and was traded to the Western Bulldogs for draft picks #25 and #40. The forward spent five years with the Dogs, including playing in the 2021 Grand Final loss to Melbourne, before being traded to the Demons after a year when he only played seven senior games for five goals.
Schache played his first game in Round 7, but even after kicking a goal on debut he was immediately dropped and not selected again until a fourth quarter substitute appearance in Round 23. After missing the next two games he was recalled as sub for the Semi Final but was not used, becoming the only Melbourne substitute all season not to enter the game.
He was selected in Melbourne's opening game of 2024 before dropping out of the side. A mid-season foot injury cost him several weeks out of the VFL side, and he didn't play another senior game for Melbourne before being delisted at the end of the season. Signed with Doncaster East for 2025.
Schache's father Laurence played with the Brisbane Bears in 1991 and 1992.
