Kicking into a strong breeze in the first quarter, Melbourne registered the opening goal within 20 seconds when Megan Fitzsimon bounced a long kick through an unguarded square. The Suns soon had their best period of the game, missing multiple chances at goal before the home side hit them on the counter-attack and registered the only three goals of the term. They added another three with the wind before half time to open a near unassailable lead against opposition containing foundation player Lily Mithen.

When Melbourne got the first goal after half time it looked like a massive score was on the cards, but they were held to one goal for the term. After already losing ex-Demon Claudia Whitfort to injury, the Suns lost two more players in a last quarter where they were comprehensively outplayed. Melbourne nearly doubled their goal tally, and Ryleigh Wotherspoon had two opportunities in the final seconds to kick a goal that would take the margin beyond the 88 point record set in the 2022 summer season. It became their second greatest winning margin, and best ever at home.

Best were Hanks, Harris, and Hore.
