Danny Corcoran

Image DOB: Unknown

Corcoran was Essendon's most senior football administrator when he quit to join Melbourne as Football Operations Manager in late June 1997.

Essendon initially threatened legal action over the appointment as he was contracted until February 1998 and only gave one hour notice that he was leaving. They dropped their case in return for an apology, and for Corcoran not starting his new job until after the National Draft.

He had previously applied for the role of Football Manager in 1991 but was not successful, instead joining Essendon in 1992. His playing career had involved two Best and Fairest awards at Garfield in the 1970's and a Reserves stint with Hawthorn in 1974. He then played with Old Xavs from 1978 and 1984, then coached them from 1987 to 1990.

At the end of the 2004 season Corcoran left Melbourne to become the boss of Athletics Australia, he remained in the role until 2010 when he joined the Melbourne Rebels rugby union team. In September that year he returned to Essendon to join the new James Hird led football department at Windy Hill.
