What was expected to be a top of the table clash with serious finals implications was affected by Fremantle suffering three late withdrawals due to COVID health and safety protocols. Forced to add a played who had only previously trained with them five months earlier, the Dockers did well to get to quarter time only two goals behind. They didn't kick another goal until the last quarter, when the margin was threatening to cross over 100 points.

At the other end, Daisy Pearce became the first Demon to kick four, then five goals in a game, as her side ran away to the biggest win and highest score kicked in the history of the competition. Their third quarter blast of 7.1 to nothing was the most lopsided term in the competition's history. With the massive win guaranteed, Melbourne eased off late and the Dockers escaped the league's first triple figure defeat.

Best were D. Pearce, Mithen and L. Pearce. Eden Zanker had quad soreness.
