After two big wins to start the season, Melbourne began to feel the pinch of a long injury list as they fell over the line againstst the 2024 wooden spooners. In wet conditions, Melbourne's tall forward line recorded the first two goals, but were unable to convert chances and left the door open for the Pies. Collingwood briefly held the lead in the third quarter before two goals by the visitors, but the margin was back to four points at three quarter time. Collingwood dominated the final term but kicked four behinds, before conceding a goal to Kate Hore. It left Melbourne a goal ahead with time running out, but they allowed Collingwood a chance to draw the game from a set shot, and after that was missed they had a chance to win with a kick after the siren from a free kick. The shot hit the post, and Melbourne held on to win.

Best were Hanks, Hore, and Chaplin. Shelley Heath left the game at quarter time due to an elevated heart rate.
