In the last game of the season both sides went in without their regular players, but Melbourne had to start with 18 on the field before the remainder of their team arrived. They were crushed, ironically failing to kick a goal in the three quarters where they had a full side.

It was only towards the end when heavy rain started to fall that Melbourne began to trouble the locals.

Best were Kelly, Ferguson and Carah.
