He developed at Casey Demons during 2022, playing in their premiership side, and retained his spot on the rookie list into 2023, debuting in the opening round. Expected to drop out of the side when Christian Salem returned, McVee proved one of the revelations of the season, playing every game, receiving a Rising Star nomination, and appearing in both of Melbourne's finals.
