After reinvigorating their season with two wins, Melbourne travelled for a danger game against the winless Eagles. They had to withstand an early barrage from the inaccurate Eagles, and late goals in the second quarter saw them enter half time a goal behind. In the third quarter Daniel Turner was sent forward to replace Harrison Petty, who had been substituted out of the game with concussion, and kicked three vital goals. The visitors took control of the game with a seven goal to two third term, before kicking six of the 11 goals in an open final term. It was Melbourne's highest scoring last quarter of the year to date.
Best were Gawn, Petracca and Langford. Harry Sharp replaced Petty at half time. Trent Rivers was fined $1000 for careless umpire contact.
