The premiers got off to a bad start at Carrara, conceding the first two goals. They recovered with the last three of the first quarter to take a lead, but found it difficult to put the young Suns away. Until late in the third quarter they were never more than 20 points in front, before taking a 22 point lead into the last break. In humid conditions, the Demons failed to kick a goal in the last quarter, and missed several chances to seal the game, but defended well enough to hold on and win their second game of the year.
Toby Bedford was an unused substitute.
Best were Petracca, Bowey and Jackson.
