Originally drafted by Gold Coast with the #5 selection in the 2013 National Draft, Kolodjashnij played five seasons with the Suns before being traded to the Demons alongside Steven May. He had already battled head and neck issues in his final year with the Suns, before multiple concussions ended his 2019 season after two games. He did not play again in 2020 and retired at the end of the season.
