After a shock heavy loss a week earlier, Melbourne returned to the MCG to play a team they hadn't lost to since 2014. Late goals in a poor last quarter gave the Suns a three goal lead at the first change which they never gave up. The Demons only added another goal before three quarter time, then conceded 13 goals to six in the second half, falling to a demoralising defeat which left them 0-3 to start the season for the first time since 2019.
Substitute Jake Melksham replaced Xavier Lindsay (knee injury) in the first quarter.
Best were Langford, Bowey, and Langdon
