Half-back/wingman who captained Gippsland Power in his draft season, and made the Under 18 All-Australian team. Played for Vic Country in the national Under 18 championships and was best on ground in the deciding game. Lindsay missed the draft combine due to a knee injury, but was still taken with Melbourne's second pick in the National Draft. After impressing in his first two games, Lindsay suffered a knee injury in his third match, which was initially thought to be serious but only kept him out of the side for a few weeks. He returned to play 18 game for the season.
