Former state netball player who joined the Western Bulldogs after three months of playing football with Darebin. Played every game for the Dogs in her first season, and appeared in a premiership in her second.

The defender was traded to Melbourne at the end of the 2019 season, playing a key role in the Demon defence across every game of the year. Named in the All Australian team defence. Also played every game in 2021. In 2022 she returned to the All Australian side, and again played every game as Melbourne made their first Grand Final. Later that year she was again ever-present in the Melbourne side, as they went on to win their maiden premiership.

Birch was linked with Hawthorn at the end of 2023 before deciding on a trade to North Melbourne, exchanged with 2023 National Draft selection #35 for #19.
