Daisy Pearce returned as captain after a year off to have children, with Karen Paxman as vice-captain.
The side was cruelled by injuries, with five players suffering an ACL injury during pre-season and the six game regular season. A further two matches were scheduled to be played, but were cancelled as part of the response to the global COVID-19 infectious disease pandemic.
The AFL decided to proceed directly to the finals, with the top four teams in each conference qualifying instead of the top three. The closure of state borders the following day led to the league cancelling the season and deciding not to name a premier.
