Rover who kicked four goals on debut. He then missed the entire 1914 season, before adding another 13 games the next year. His VFL career ended when World War I prompted Melbourne to withdraw from the competition at the end of 1915.

In 1917 he enlisted to serve in the First World War. He didn't return to Melbourne after the war, and coached Somerville in 1922 then Cranbourne in 1923. His brother trained with Richmond in the 1924 pre-season but did not play a senior match.
