The nephew of Eric Guy, who played 93 games for St. Kilda from 1957 to 1962, played 15 games in a row after debuting in the first round of 1975 before suffering a dislocated shoulder which ended his season. In 1974 he was premiership captain/coach of Carrum in the Mornington Peninsula League - he left with the side having won 32 straight games.

He didn't return until Round 10 the next year and joined Frankston in 1977. The next season he played for Dandenong, remaining there until the end of 1980.
