The defender and brother of Richmond and Sydney player Darren, Gaspar didn't immediately move to Victoria after being drafted, debuting more than two seasons after the Demons picked him up. He played 28 senior games before badly injuring his groin midway through 1997 and missing the rest of the season. Gaspar returned for one final game in 1998 but couldn't find a place in a strong Demons backline. That season he won the Reserves Best and Fairest, before being delisted.

Gaspar returned to the WAFL and joined East Fremantle in 1999 while simultaneously working as a policeman. He was their captain in 2004 and 2005 before retiring and being replaced by Shane Woewodin. He played 110 games for East Fremantle and later worked as their Football Manager.

A third brother Travis played for West Coast.
