The first player from Maffra to ever appear in the VFL, Streeter - nicknamed "Brum" - came to the club as a 25-year-old having already served in the First World War. He was a part of the 8th Light Horse Regiment and was wounded at Gallipoli. While recovering in Egypt his regiment suffered devastating losses, and when he returned to combat he was eventually promoted to Lieutenant. A natural athlete he won the Army open swimming championship after peace was declared.

The day after landing home he played for Melbourne in a game against the Returned Soldiers and remained with the club from then.

He had already played in a premiership for Maffra in 1914, and returned in 1919 when they were runners-up before being recruited by the Demons.

Back pocket in the 1926 Grand Final victory, Streeter played two games for Victoria and for the VFL against the Wimmera League in 1927 and Bendigo League in 1928.

He joined the selection committee on his retirement and captain/coached the seconds from 1929 to a premiership in 1931 before being named secretary in December that year after the resignation of Andrew Manzie.

In 1934, six years after his last VFL game, he was cleared to Glenthompson as playing coach.

Streeter died at age 60 as the result of an accident.
