The Grand Final rematch took until the last round of the new season, and this time the Lions came out on top. Playing for a double chance, they stopped Melbourne from finishing on top after a bruising physical contest.

Brisbane dominated most of the first quarter and kicked the opening two goals, before Casey Sherriff got one against the run of play to reduce the margin to eight at quarter time. Melbourne's second quarter was much better, briefly grabbing the lead before conceding a late goal. They didn't kick another, a first scoreless second half since 2020, and the game was over when the home side added two more goals in the dying minutes of the term.

Neither team kicked a goal in the final term, but while Melbourne ran the game out better they were unable to take advantage. It left them second on the ladder.

Best were Pearce, Hore and Purcell. Watt was concussed in a first quarter tackle and was unable to continue, Chaplin was also assessed for concussion but returned. Sherriff suffered a fractured arm.
