Last game at Princes Park

On a day where the Blues gathered in front of a largely parochial crowd to say goodbye to their spiritual home the Demons blew the game apart with a scorching third quarter.

Turning for home with a lead of nearly ten goals Melbourne fell apart in the last quarter and the Blues kicked their sixth goal in a row at the 20 minute mark to cut the gap to just three goals. With time left for Carlton to mount the greatest last quarter comeback in history the Demons steadied to hold on for the victory.

Brock McLean recieved maximum Brownlow votes but other key contributors included Clint Bizzell (27 touches), Travis Johnstone (29) and Jeff White who dominated the hit-outs.

Mark Jamar was reprimanded for rough conduct.
