With both teams shockingly inaccurate in a poor game Carlton dragged themselves off the bottom of the VFL ladder with a hard fought win over the Demons.
Denis Jones said he wasn't disappointed with his side's performance but bemoaned that he was missing Ray Biffin through injury. Ross Brewer booted two goals in the opening term before Alex Jesaulenko put him out of the game.
After kicking ten goals in a quarter during their romp over Fitzroy a week earlier the Demons could only managed 11 for the day.
