Listed in AFL records under his full name of Pasqualino Taglieri-Sclocchi, Lino joined the Melbourne Under 19s as a 17-year-old in 1986 after being named Preston Under 19's Most Courageous Player and Best Player in the Finals.

Over three seasons at the Demons he played Under 19s in 1986 and 1987 but suffered a fractured tibia in his second season. After playing Reserves matches in 1988 wearing number 52 he was delisted before the beginning of the 1989 season.

From there Taglieri moved to Queensland, playing two seasons for Windsor-Zillmere and one for North Brisbane in the QAFL before returning to Victoria to play for Reservoir Lakeside in the Diamond Valley League. In 1995 he took over as playing coach at just 26 years of age.

In 1998 and 1989 he played for Ivanhoe-Assumption amateurs before returning to Queensland again as a player/Reserves coach with first Zillmere Eagles then Mayne Tigers where he played until the end of 2004.
