Biggest win at Corio Oval

Already well entrenched inside the top four the Reds travelled to Corio to take on the league's worst team and further enhanced their credentials as contenders by scoring their biggest ever win at the ground.

It was said to be the lowest crowd at the ground in many years, and the one win Pivotonians put up no fight after the first quarter. After an even term when the home side took a one point lead they managed just three more goals and the visitors ran away with another 9.12 to win comfortably. Three goals in a row in the second quarter broke Geelong's spirit.

On a muddy day the contest petered out in the second half but the best football of the day was played as Melbourne ran away with victory. Geelong got the first goal of the last quarter to cut the margin to 19 before the visitors ran away with the game again.

McKenzie, Sheehan and Park were best.

Notes
Lowell may have been a late replacement for Bill McKenzie.
