Satterley was on the list at Footscray between 1992 and 1995 before moving to VFA side Werribee in 1995 and winning the Liston Trophy for Best and Fairest player in the competition.
Moving into coaching Satterley was an assistant at the TAC Cup Western Jets before senior coaching the Northern Knights. He returned to Werribee and spent 2009 and 2010 as development coach before taking the side to a preliminary final as senior coach in 2011.
His contract was not renewed at the end of 2013. Coached De La Salle from 2014 to 2018, thenOld Xaverians in 2019 and Old Melburnians from 2021.
