In their first match against the North AFLW team, Melbourne gave the undefeated Roos a scare. North kicked away with three goals to one in the second quarter, before a comeback cut the gap to three points at the last change. The Demons took the lead at the start of the last, but conceded the only other goal of the quarter to lose narrowly.
Best were Paxman, Hore and Mithen. Tegan Cunningham was reprimanded for striking.
