The childhood Melbourne fan joined the Eagles in the 2022 Mid-Season Draft, played four games in his first season, and was nominated for the Rising Star after a four goal performance in 2023. Two weeks later he suffered a season-ending knee injury, returning for three more games in 2024 before being delisted at the end of the season.

Culley trained with Melbourne in the 2025 pre-sesaon, but was overlooked in favour of Jack Henderson for the list vacancy caused by a season-ending injury to Shane McAdam. He was added to Melbourne's list when Andy Moniz-Wakefield injured his knee in the first practice match of the year. The deadline for free agent signings had passed, but Melbourne was given special permission to sign Culley. He played at Casey until late in the season when selected to debut against the Eagles, after playing in 12 consecutive losses during his career at West Coast, Culley won on debut as a Melbourne player and kicked two goals.
