After a Round 1 win, Melbourne welcomed the defending premiers for their first home game of the season but were easily beaten. Without the injured Tayla Harris, their forward line struggled and failed to register a goal until the third quarter. After taking a two goal lead into the second quarter, Brisbane was kept scoreless but Melbourne only kicked a point in reply. Any chance of a come-from- behind win was wrecked by last quarter Brisbane goals, and they went on to win easily.
Best were Mackin, Gillard and Hanks. Alyssia Pisano replaced Lauren Pearce (wrist) in the selected side. Eden Zanker had an elbow injury. Eliza McNamara was fined $400 for rough conduct.
