A winger, and one of the fastest players in the competition, who joined the Blues with huge wraps but failed to live up to his promise and crossed to the Demons after 38 games with the Blues between 1963 and 1966.
Managed just one game with Melbourne after being cleared by Carlton before the 1967 season began.
He was cleared to VFA Second Division side Werribee in 1968 and became their captain, remaining there through 1972. Comben's brother Bruce played 188 games for the Blues.
