A winger, and one of the fastest players in the competition, who joined the Blues with huge wraps but failed to live up to his promise and crossed to the Demons after 38 games with the Blues between 1963 and 1966. He only played one game, against Carlton, and was cleared to VFA side Werribee in 1968. He captained Werribee, remaining with the club through 1972. Comben's brother Bruce played 188 games for the Blues.
