Biggest win against North Melbourne

Almost assured of a top four finish, Melbourne faced one of their fellow contenders in an important step towards hosting a home final, and potentially the Grand Final. North got off to a quick start with two of the first three goals, then failed to score again until the last minute. A 50 metre penalty gave Casey Sherriff Melbourne's first goal of the game, and by half time they were ahead. Best of ground Tyla Hanks goalled in the opening minutes of the third quarter to extend the margin, and on the back of a strong defensive performance Melbourne coasted to an important victory.

Best were Hanks, Gillard and Purcell. Aimee Mackin (ankle) and Gabrielle Colvin (Achilles) were replaced in the selected side by Megan Fitzsimon and Charlotte Wilson.

Melbourne played under the indigenous name 'Narrm'.
