Melbourne win by 26 points
A tight, close game against an undermanned Saints side was blown apart by a ten goal second half blitz by the Demons. Defence had been on top in the first half, but when Melbourne came out of the sheds with a three point lead at the start of the third quarter they soon extended it to 22 thanks to two goals from Farmer within a minute and another from Beams.
The Saints fought back but a 55m bomb from Brad Green helped Melbourne to a 15 point lead by the last break. From there they booted four unanswered goals to seal the match before taking their foot off the gas and allowing their opposition to make it more respectable.
Best were Neitz, Woewodin and Farmer
