July 1881 match 2 vs Essendon

Saturday 30 July - Flemington Hill

Essendon 0.3
Melbourne 2.15 (half time 0-1)

Goalkickers: Hamilton, W. Boys

With Melbourne attempting to avenge their loss from earlier in the month, The Australasian reported seeing several of Melbourne's best players enjoying the Geelong vs Carlton match at East Melbourne instead of travelling to Essendon for the match.

Nevertheless those who did go managed to get their side over the line, with one goal in either half.

Best were Aitken, A. Bennie and Sibley.
