In 1996, Goodale won the Frank Johnson Medal for best VFL representative player in a match again the Tasmanian Football League. He had previously been at Prahran in 1994.
The next year he played for the Demons reserves where he beat senior players Dean Irving, Russell Robertson, Leigh Newton and Nathan Bassett to the Demons Reserves B&F wearing number 53 but never made it to the senior list. Joined Port Melbourne in 1998 and was there through 2000.
Goodale played for Mt. Eliza from at least 2006 to 2008
