With their return to the finals confirmed, Melbourne travelled to Perth but suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of the Dockers. Four first quarter goals set up Fremantle's win, and while the visitors were back within a point at half time, they conceded the only goal of the third quarter and were unable to take advantage of the wind in the last quarter. Each side kicked one goal and Fremantle held on to keep their season alive.

Best were Hanks, McNamara, and Goldrick. Gall injured her ankle, and Harris left the game in the last minutes after a heavy collision.
