In their first game after a disappointing 2024 season, Melbourne finished the first round of the new season on top of the ladder with a healthy percentage after a big away win. After a closely fought first quarter, Melbourne's star-studded midfield and forward line combined to better convert chances, keeping the home side to a single goal for the evening.
Best were Hanks, Purcell, and Heath. Tayla Harris suffered an eye injury.
