After 14 consecutive victories dating back a year, Melbourne finally came unstuck against the only other unbeaten side in the competition. They started well by kicking only two goals of the opening quarter, before the Crows recovered to level the score at half time. Adelaide's pressure helped them to the first four goals of the third term, before a late Eliza McNamara steadier kept the Demons within range.
Eden Zanker brought up record-equalling fifth goal, giving her side a chance of a comeback victory but the Crows held on. Adelaide's first goal of the quarter was Melbourne's first conceded in the final term since their last loss.
Best were Hanks, Zanker, and Purcell. Lauren Pearce (shoulder) and Aimee Mackin (ankle) were injured
