1992 Reserves Grand Final

Saturday 26 September - MCG

Essendon 2.5, 9.11, 14.16, 18.19.127
Melbourne 2.3, 3.5, 7.9, 14.10.94

Essendon won by 33 points

Goalkickers: David Neitz 3, Andrew Lamprill 2, David Taylor 2, Mathew Mackay 2, Darren Kowal 1, Darren Cuthbertson 1, Matthew Febey 1, Robert Lemon 1, Grant Williams 1

Essendon seconds coach Denis Pagan had already been interviewed for Melbourne's vacant senior job, and he did himself no harm by coaching a big win against the Demons.

Melbourne got the first two goals of the game, but a seven goal to one blitz in the second quarter set up victory for the Bombers. They were slowed in the third term and only added eight points to the lead, but it was more than enough. David Neitz kicked two in the last quarter as Melbourne doubled their goal tally but they were merely saving face.

Terry Daniher kicked six for the winners in his last game.

Best were Febey, Eishold and Neitz.
