Post season game, Melbourne's first since their premiership triumph.

Dick Atkinson, Ben Crameri, John Lord, Ian McLean and Colin Wilson played for the Tasmanian side, with Lord the 19th man. The three on-loan Demon talls helped the Tasmanian side compete in the packs but they still didn't have the firepower to get close.

At first the Demons were sluggish, only 10 points up at quarter time, but from there they took control of the game. The Tasmanians gave their all but fell against the best team in the country.

Best were Cordner, Beckwith and Adams.
