He debuted in the last round of 1995 in a game the Demons needed to win to make the finals after a number of injuries to senior players, but failed to register a possession during the loss which ended Melbourne's season. He had to wait until his second match, Round 9 the next season, to have his first disposal in an AFL match.
Despite struggling to cement a spot in a poor Melbourne team, Ormond-Allen was a feature of Adelaide's 1997 side until suffering a broken jaw at the hands of Luke O'Sullivan of Carlton. He then fought back into the side before missing the winning grand final with glandular fever.
The next year he played 15 games but fell out of favour by finals time and missed another premiership. He was delisted after the 2000 season, a year that he failed to play a senior game. After his career with the Crows ended he returned to play for Port in the SANFL, and later appeared for South Adelaide.
