With a tricky wind blowing against them in the first quarter, the Demons were on the back foot for most of the first term. The game turned in the second quarter, with two goals from Kate Hore putting the Demons ahead at the half.
North were again the better side in the third, but by only kicking one goal they were left vulnerable to the Demons, who won the game courtesy of a goal from Eden Zanker. Melbourne held out in a frantic last minute to win.
